“The AFUL Performer 8S utilizes a complex hybrid configuration—1DD, 6BA, 1 passive radiator, and 1 micro-planar driver—to deliver precise three-dimensional imaging and adjustable bass texture via a vent system. While it offers an immersive soundstage and excellent vocal body, it lacks the upper-treble airiness found in EST-based competitors, making it a specialized choice for listeners prioritizing midrange warmth and physical bass impact.”

Micro-planar driver lacks the airy, lightweight treble extension of BA or EST tweeters.
audioreviews.orgit doesnt sound particularly airy or shimmery. Id attribute that to the driver type, since these micro-planar drivers tend to lack this airiness
