Expert Verdict

The iBasso Jr. Macaron delivers transparent, natural sound with excellent instrument separation and detail through its CS43131 DAC chip, making it an impressive portable DAC dongle for IEM users. The smooth, safe tuning prevents harshness while maintaining resolution, though the soundstage width is slightly narrower than premium alternatives.

Best For

IEM users seeking a portable DAC upgrade with transparent, forgiving sound and no synergy headaches should buy the Macaron, while those prioritizing the widest soundstage may want to look elsewhere.
