Expert Verdict

The EDUP RT2980 is a capable Wi-Fi 6 router featuring a MediaTek MT7981BA dual-core chipset and OpenWrt support, making it a strong choice for power users needing VPN, VLAN, and SQM QoS customization. While it offers excellent signal coverage and device handling, it requires a technical learning curve for initial setup.

Best For

Network enthusiasts and power users who want OpenWrt flexibility; avoid if you prefer a simple, plug-and-play setup.
